On April 4th, the official inauguration of the Center for the Development of Special Applications and Process Certification for the Military and Defence Sectors (CEDAEC) took place. This is the first center in Spain entirely dedicated to advanced manufacturing and the certification of parts for the defense sector, positioning it at the technological forefront for the production and assurance of critical defense components.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Secretary of State for Defence, Ms. María Amparo Valcarce García, who presided over the ceremony, accompanied by local authorities and representatives of the Armed Forces. During the event, attendees took a guided tour of the facilities, where they could see firsthand the advanced technology housed within the center.
Among the center's innovative capabilities are metal and polymer 3D printing, state-of-the-art machining centers, reverse engineering systems, post-processing procedures, and advanced testing equipment, including one of Europe's most sophisticated tomography scanners for component inspection and certification. These resources are key elements for ensuring the quality, operational readiness, and extended lifespan of parts and spares in the military sector.
The launch of CEDAEC is part of a defense agreement signed between Soluciones Sicnova and the Ministry of Defence, which will be managed by Sicnova's subsidiary, Novaindef. The initiative aims to develop and implement a digitalization strategy that simplifies the manufacturing of parts and spares, improving the supply chains and logistics of the Armed Forces. This seeks to increase the operational availability of fleets and resources during operations, solve obsolescence problems, and enhance performance through an innovative approach based on design and additive manufacturing.
