The conference titled 'Defence Sector: opportunities for Andalusian companies, research, and innovation', organized by the Regional Government of Andalusia (Junta de Andalucía) this Thursday in the auditorium of the Córdoba Provincial Council (Diputación de Córdoba), reflected the powerful business magnet that the awarding of the Army Logistics Base (BLET) to the city has become. Nearly two hundred companies participated, and ABC had the opportunity to speak with three of the most important ones already established in Córdoba or planning to be in the future, attracted by the BLET: Escribano M&E, Silpre (Navantia, Indra, and UCO), and Novaindef.
Novaindef (a Sicnova group company) is essentially a company dedicated to manufacturing replacement parts and spares, primarily to supply the fleets of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. It achieves this using 3D printing. The company creates parts that are no longer supported by the original manufacturer of the vehicle, aircraft, or ship, in order to maintain the operational life of the Armed Forces' fleets.
To this end, Novaindef already has an advanced manufacturing center based in Córdoba, specifically at the Army's Vehicle Maintenance Center in El Higuerón. Seven people work here, providing support to the entire Army, as well as the Navy in Rota (Cádiz) and the Air Force in Albacete.
Novaindef's CTO, Fernando Lasagni, explained their establishment in Córdoba to ABC yesterday: "We have developed an advanced manufacturing center in Córdoba, incorporating various technologies, primarily metal and polymer 3D printing, as well as other conventional technologies."
