ITE: Osmosis Project on the Frigate Reina SofíaThe frigate ‘Reina Sofía’ (F-84) recently set sail from the Naval Base of Rota to join “Operation Atalanta,” an EU mission against piracy in the Indian Ocean. It replaces the ‘Santa María’ and will remain deployed until June.
It carries 226 crew members, including a Marine Infantry Team, MISTRAL missiles, and an SH-60B helicopter. This frigate underwent a modernization program focused on improving its potable water production systems. As part of this initiative, two reverse osmosis plants model ITE-30TD were installed, each with a production capacity of 30 tons per day. These plants are designed by ITE to process seawater and supply potable water with a conductivity of less than 400 µS, meeting the quality standards required on board.ITE-30TD Reverse Osmosis Plants Project (NOC: 4620-33-213-2606).
Key features of these plants:Compact footprint construction, which saves space on the vessel, a critical factor in naval design. Each plant is equipped with two 8-inch helicoidal or spiral-wound membranes, known for their easy maintenance and long lifespan.Shock certification according to MIL-STD-810-F, ensuring their resilience and operability in extreme conditions, guaranteeing their functionality even under the demanding circumstances that may arise in naval operations. The Defense unit of ITE is a benchmark for the Armed Forces and State Security Corps, developing special projects according to customer requirements.
